Philadelphia - Day 1

Wow very hot here in philly! After exploring the Reading Terminal Market (Arch & 12th, an old haunt for Mike), we visited Independence Hall (originally called the Pennsylvania State House) and heard both 11 and 2 o'clock gong (not a chime!). Smaller than I expected. We also saw the Liberty Bell, loved the Leviticus inscription; very moving. Next the Peale family exhibit hall (accomplished artists and more) and Portrait Gallery a block up Chestnut. A park ranger personally shared fun details about Charles Wilson Peale.

For example, I did not know that Ben Frank thought people would enjoy seeing his body taxidermied. Meh!! Fortunately he was talked out if it (👍also he was pretty portly and had gout when he died, so not too pretty.)
